Controversial businessman Abhishek Verma, who is suspected to have used his defence contacts to procure sensitive information pertaining to Navy war room leak case, was on Wednesday denied bail by a Delhi court in connection with the case.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) K S Mohi rejected Verma's bail plea on the ground that the information, which were leaked by him, could be prejudicial to the safety and security of the country.

Seeking bail of his client Verma, senior counsel P K Dubey, argued that the investigating agency, CBI, has made false allegations against him without any basis of concrete evidence. He was falsely implicated in this case without any recovery of material.

There was no material recovered to connect the accused with the alleged pen drive which was used by Verma. CBI had failed to provide any document to show that Verma was in possession of the secret information from the government department, Dubey argued.

Opposing the bail plea of Verma, CBI stated there were money transactions made by accused Verma, the director of Atlas group of companies, with co-accused Kulbhushan Parashar and the pen drive recovered from the possession of his associate V Rana, contained some of the most sensitive information.
