A resident of Zamrudpur area, Kamal works as driver-cum-office boy for a Supreme Court lawyer. He was going to Golf Links to collect a file when he saw the incident and recorded it on his phone.
"I was at traffic signal when the woman with two kids on the scooty crossed the signal. When she crossed the signal, it was green, but the policeman caught her claiming that she had jumped the red light. Waiting at traffic signal I was noticing the entire incident," Kant said.
After a few seconds, when signal turned red, Kant stopped his car near the woman's scooty and started recording the scuffle between the cop and woman.
"Woman asked the cop to issue a challan but he demanded a bribe of Rs 200. When woman refused to pay she was pulled by the cop. Seeing this, I started recording the incident. To resist, the woman picked up a stone but in return cop threw a heavy piece of brick on her and then tried to flee," Kant said.
He claimed that when the officer tried to escape from the spot, the woman stopped him and passerby came for help called the police.
Kant alleged that the traffic policeman was deployed at the particular traffic signal for long and had harassed another driver.
"A fellow driver was stopped by him 45 days back and he slapped him and took Rs 2,200 along with his driving license. Since then I used to notice him every time I used to cross this signal.
"Every day I see the traffic police taking bribe. They keep 70 per cent money with them and only 30 per cent goes to the government. So I wanted to expose the corruption in the system," Kant said who was also inspired by Delhi chief minister who has asked people to make video to expose corruption.
