Classical concert for tsunami victims

Classical musicians have come together to help the tsunami-hit people of India.

They have organised a concert, 'Yogdaan', in Mumbai on January 7 to raise money for the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

Pandit Jasraj, Gaansaraswati Kishori Amonkar, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Sultan Khan, Ustad Rais Khan, Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Shankar Mahadeven, Satish Vyas, Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, Pandit Ajay Pohankar, Taufic Qureshi, Ganesh, Kumaresh, Roopak Kulkarni and Ulhas Kashalkar will perform at the concert.

The musicians will also contribute personally.

The concert is organised by Zakir Hussain Promotion Pvt Ltd and Pancham Nishad Creatives. The venue is Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya in Dadar.

Ticket rates are Rs 150, Rs 300 and Rs 500.

"This is the beginning. If it is successful, later we will plan to hold similar programme's in other cities also," Zakir Hussain said.
