VIDEO: 3 cops suspended after AAP digs out evidence of police brutality

The Delhi Police on Friday have suspended three policemen who were seen beating a man in a video released by Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.

The action against the three constables -- Jitendra, Arvid and Saurabh -- came hours after AAP posted the video on its Facebook page.

"Such an incident will not be tolerated. The case will be investigated," said Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.

The AAP has released a 12-day-old video showing three cops beating up a man, as vindication of its campaign against the Delhi Police which it terms as "highly compromised and corrupt".

The video shows the constables beating up man near Lal Qila (Red Fort).

The party claimed that the video also establishes that police officials indulge in corruption. It shows the two uniformed men brutally beating the man with a stick, pulling out his wallet and taking money from it.

The AAP posted the video online with a message that asked Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde whether action would be taken against these policemen. 

The party said the footage was shot by a "vigilante" near Delhi's Red Fort on January 12. 

"The Delhi police is known to be brutal. Every now and then we hear of stories about Delhi police's brutality. Here is another such video. Not only does the video clearly show Delhi Police's inhuman behaviour but also the urban legend of police extorting money is caught on camera," AAP said in its message.

Kejriwal held a protest this week to demand action against Delhi Police officers who had refused to make arrests ordered by his ministers. The chief minister has blamed the force for rising crime in the capital and demanded that its control be transferred to the state government.
