Eminent journalist H K Dua and noted entrepreneur and former chairman of Hindustan Lever Limited A K Ganguly have been nominated by the government to the Rajya Sabha.
Sources said on Tuesday that the names have been sent to President Pratibha Patil for her assent.
Dua, who is the Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune, had earlier held top editorial positions in prominent newspapers like The Hindustan Times, The Indian Express and The Times of India.
A recipient of the Padma Bhushan, he had also served as the media advisor to former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.
Ganguly, who was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan award, the second highest civilian honour, was also a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry.
