The 56-year-old singer and columnist, who was reportedly suffering from depression, ended her life on Monday by shooting herself in the temple at her residence in 'Prabhu Kunj' apartments on posh Peddar Road in South Mumbai.
According to sources close to the family, the funeral took place between 3 and 4 am at Chandanwadi crematorium in Marine Lines.
Asha Bhosle, who was away in Singapore to attend the closing ceremony of the Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards, rushed back to India and reached Mumbai around 11 pm on Monday.
