Senior advocate Goolam E Vahanvati was appointed as the new Attorney General on Monday, the country's top law officer.
Vahanvati, who was the Solicitor General during the previous United Progressive Alliance government, has been appointed to the post for a period of three years, official sources said.
Vahanvati's elevation was expected as he was the frontrunner for the post
