Asserting that "some progress" has been made during the ongoing Indo-Pak peace talks, the US has said it is important that both the countries continue their dialogue to reduce tensions in the region.
"There has been some progress made. There is a dialogue that has been ongoing between India and Pakistan. And that's
positive," White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said in response to a question.
"It's important that they continue to have a dialogue to reduce tensions in the region. And we work very closely with those countries and stay in contact with them on those issues," McClellan said.
"The US," he added, "is working closely with the new government (in India). The President congratulated the new government after the elections, and we are continuing to work closely with them on this issue as well as other issues of common interest."
