"We understand that the governments of India and Pakistan are in contact over the issue, and we continue to encourage, of course, further dialogue, and we think that's the best step to resolve," State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told media persons at her daily news conference.
The US, she said, was concerned about any violence along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Her remarks came days after five Indian soldiers were killed in Poonch sector along the LoC.
"Our position is the same. We believe it should be a dialogue between India and Pakistan," she said.
"Well, our policy has not changed. We still believe that these discussions and negotiations should take place with a dialogue between India and Pakistan," Psaki said when asked if people of Kashmir be included in the India-Pak dialogue at sometime.
