The American Embassy in Mumbai has scheduled a its third Super Saturday on June 19. This event is used to meet the increasing demand for visas, the embassy said in a statement.
A Super Saturday is a full day of visa interviews and processing which will involve 1800 appointments, which were made online. A quarter of the consular officers working on June 19-Super Saturday will be trained Gujarati speakers.
In the light of continued high demand, Super Saturdays may be scheduled periodically throughout the summer, the consulate said.
The US embassy and consulates in India process more than 600,000 nonimmigrant visa applications per year-the second highest volume in the world.
