Upset Advani may skip Mumbai rally, return to Delhi

Bharatiya Janata Party's senior-most leader, L K Advani is distressed by the current state of affairs of the party.

A source close to Advani told rediff.com off the record that he is unlikely to attend the party's public meeting, which will organised soon after the national executive meeting on May 25, in Mumbai.

He is likely to cut short his visit to Mumbai and return to New Delhi.

Advani is unhappy with the manner in which the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has dominated the show behind the scene to insist on Nitin Gadkari setting a second tenure as the party president.

The RSS has forced the BJP's national executive to pass the resolution to give its party president a second term, which will be finalised eventually by the national council -- the party's highest decision-making

body.

Advani is pained to see the 'wheeler dealers' lobbying for the feuding sides in the party. 

He is also unhappy to see the RSS's excessive interference in the party, which he had tried to resist in many ways when he was the undisputed leader of the saffron organisation.

RSS Joint General Secretary Suresh Soni has worked overtime to force BJP leaders to give Gadkari a fresh lease of political life despite his failure to win the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls under his leadership.
