The government is likely to agree to allow an adjournment motion by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi on the issue of 51 percent FDI in multi-brand retail.
The mood in the government seems to have hardened and they do not seem to be in a mood to budge on the issue. Prime Minister Mamhohan Singh indicated as much during his speech at a Youth Congress meet in the capital on Tuesday.
The government may also agree to voting on the motion, indicating that it will not back down on the issue, despite some United Progressive Alliance allies coming out openly against the move to have FDI in retail.
