Twenty-five people, including four women and three children, were killed in thunderstorms that left a trail of destruction in two districts of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, according to officials in Lucknow.
Nineteen were killed in Gonda district and six in Basti in the rainstorms, which flattened houses and uprooted trees.
Six people were injured and were hospitalised, the officials said.
The authorities announced relief of Rs 50,000 each to the bereaved families and Rs 5,000 each to the injured.
