Samajwadi Party MLA from Derapur in Kanpur (rural) district Kamlesh Pathak was on Monday shot at and seriously wounded while one of his associates was killed in an attack by armed assailants, police sources said in Etawah.
Pathak had gone to settle a land dispute at his brother-in-law's place in Bhind district, in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, when the attack took place. He was rushed to Gwalior for treatment.
All the five assailants have been arrested, sources added.
