Police, however, claimed on Thursday that the allegation levelled by the woman was false and rape has not been confirmed in the medical test done on her.
The woman has alleged that SI Rahul Pandey, who is posted at Sumerpur police station, raped her on June 9 night when she had gone there to get her husband released. She further charged that three other policemen had assisted Pandey in the alleged act.
Following her complaint, an FIR was lodged in the case against Pandey, one Dinesh Baghel and two other unidentified policemen. However, police on Thursday said that prima facie, the allegation seems to be false.
Deputy Inspector General (Banda range) Amitabh Yash said that on June 9, SI Pandey had gone to Girwa in Banda district along with the Lalpur Station House Officer Sanjay Singh.
“Pandey leaving the police station is registered,” he said, adding that on the day in question, the Circle Officer (Sadar) was himself present at Sumerpur police station between 6 pm and 10 pm in connection with some arrest.
The DIG added that no injury was detected in the medical report of the woman and rape was not confirmed. He added that, according to the medical report, the woman was three-and-a- half months pregnant.
Yash said that the woman has alleged that the policemen demanded money from her and claimed she had withdrawn Rs 5,000 from her father-in-law’s account to pay them. But when a crosscheck was done, it was found that there was no withdrawal from the account on the date mentioned by the woman.
