Authorities on Thursday videographed the autopsy of Deputy Chief Medical Officer Y S Sachan, who died on jail premises in Lucknow under mysterious circumstances, even as the high court directed that his viscera to be preserved.
The post mortem findings have not been disclosed yet.
"The post mortem of doctor Sachan was conducted by a panel of five doctors and the entire procedure has been videographed," officials sources said in Lucknow.
Demanding a second autopsy, Sachan's wife raised doubts over the suicide theory of the police.
"After the post mortem, the body has been handed over to Sachan's family members," the sources said.
Meanwhile, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed that viscera of Sachan be preserved.
The order was passed by a division bench of justices Shabihul Hasnain and Vedpal on an application in a PIL seeking a direction that post-mortem of the deputy CMO be conducted either outside the state or by a panel of doctors from other state and that viscera be preserved.
Sachan, the main accused in the murder of CMO (Family Welfare) B P Singh, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the Lucknow district jail hospital on Wednesday night after which the government ordered a judicial probe into the incident.
"Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide," Inspector General of (Jail) V K Gupta had said.
The death of Sachan came a day before a court was to take up the police plea for his remand as also that of three others.
Singh was shot dead by unidentified persons on the morning of April 2 when he had gone for a walk.
Sachan's name was also linked to the murder of another CMO (Family Welfare) Vinod Kumar Arya who was shot dead in October last year.
Like Singh, Arya too was shot dead near his Vikas Nagar residence when he had gone out for morning walk.
