The Army on Monday busted a hideout of the banned United Liberation Front of Assam in upper Assam's Tinsukia district of Assam, official sources said.

The hideout in upper Dihing reserve forest west block near village Samoguri was used until recently by suspected ULFA terrorists for their subversive activities in the area and as temporary shelter to avoid detection by security forces, the sources said.

The hideout was also a base for providing medical treatment to their injured cadres, they added.

The troops, led by Dah Division's commanding officer Virendra Vatra, recovered blankets, plastic water-proof material, wire, electric switches and a bamboo piece with wire connected to batteries and ration items. Cassettes, mobile phone covers, files, diaries and clothes were also recovered from the hideout.

The hideout is close to the villages of Dimoruhula and Mamoroni where the security forces had killed three ULFA cadres last month and recovered a 12-kg Improvised Explosive Devise. Meanwhile, security forces have intensified their operations in the area, which is an ULFA stronghold.
