"We haven't surrendered and will not surrender," that is what ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and deputy commander in chief Raju Baruah shouted in response to questions thrown at them by mediapersons waiting in the court chief judicial magistrate in Guwahati on Saturday evening.

As soon as they alighted from the mini bus in which they were brought to the court under heavy security, the ULFA chairman and Raju Baruah said, "We haven't surrendered and will not surrender. There is no possibility of holding peace talks soon. It is not just to talk about dialogue with handcuffed hands."

The three ULFA men- chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, deputy commander in chief Raju Barauh and sergeant Raja Bora – were produced in the court at around 5-45 p.m. after a day-long wait. They were then taken back from the court after about 25 minutes.

The counsel of ULFA leaders Bijon Mahajan informed that the court remanded the three ULFA men to 12 days police custody in response to 14 days custody sought by the Assam Police.

The counsel said the ULFA leaders were booked under Section 384 of the IPC read with Section 10/13 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in relation to a Special Operation Unit (SOU) case No 2/98.The charges under Section 384 of IPC and Section 13 of UAP Act were non-bailable.

A large crowd thronged outside the court premises to take a look at rthe ULFA leaders. The moment ULFA leaders were at the gate of the court, some onlookers suddenly burst into "ULFA zindabad, Arabinda Rajkhowa zindabad" slogans much to astonishment security personnel.
