Few hours after their escape from police custody in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district, two top militants of Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami were on Thursday arrested from Doda district.

"Both the militants were successfully apprehended after a massive search operation in Doda district at around 4 pm," Jammu Zone IGP Dilbagh Singh told reporters.

HuJI divisional commander Dullah Bakerwal alias Sher Khan and Jameel Abbas alias Abdullah Bakerwal last evening escaped from police custody after they took the excuse of attending the call of nature at an isolated slope between Patnitop and Batote.

Police had brought them to Kishtwar for their appearance in the court. After the court attendance, they were being brought back from Kishtwar to Udhampur.

"Tracker dog of CRPF and over 200 policemen conducted a night long operation and finally nabbed the duo at Ansi top and Hardoon forest areas," the IGP said.

Ramban SP Anil Magotra had earlier said, "We have arrested and suspended four police personnel, escorting the two militants, for dereliction of duty."
