J&K: 2 terrorists killed in Kupwara

Two unidentified terrorists and an army trooper were killed in a fierce north Kashmir encounter Sunday.

Police said army and Special Operations Group of the police on a specific information surrounded a forest area in the mountains of picturesque Bungus valley of north Kashmir's Kupwara district during which the hiding terrorists fired upon the surrounding security forces. "The troops also retaliated and returned the fire, triggering a fierce gun battle and so far an army trooper and two terrorists have been killed," a senior police officer told rediff.com.

The officer said, "The troops are still busy searching the area."A police spokesman said two AK-47 rifles and one grenade were recovered from the encounter site. Terrorists shattered an 18-month long lull  on Saturday in the summer capital Srinagar by striking twice in a space of 30 minutes at two crowded market places killing two security men and wounding another.

Four civilians were injured in a grenade attack in Srinagar's Rambagh area whem terrorist hurled a grenade into the crowd. The injured have been rushed to a local hospital
