Mahaboob Basha, a resident of Kadapa district in the state, had filed an application before the Election Commission in November last year seeking registration of "YSR Congress Party". However, according to the application, the party was formed in September last year.
As per the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, the application shall be made within 30 days next following the date of formation of the association of body.
Though Basha had made several attempts for reconsideration of his case, EC said the application was not made within 30 days and had become time-barred.
The Commission received another application from one S Venkataramana Reddy, also from Kadapa district, seeking registration of a political party in the name of "YSR Praja Party."
"This application is being examined in the Commission in accordance with due procedure," EC said.
