In a revival of Maoist violence in junglemhal after a year-long lull, two Central Reserve Police Force personnel were shot dead by the ultras during an encounter in West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Monday.
The two personnel, R L Reddy and Bijoy Mahalakshmi, were fatally injured during the encounter which had erupted following a combing operation at Metla forest in Goaltore police station area, Superintendent of Police Sunil Chowdhury told PTI.
They were declared brought dead in hospital, he said.
