Two policemen were killed in a militant ambush in the Rajouri district of Jammu region late last night, a senior police officer said Thursday.
He said a police team was dispatched to village Totamora near Thanamandi on specific information about the presence of militants. However, militants fired indiscriminately from automatic weapons, taking the team by surprise.
"Two cops, including a special police officer (SPO), were killed on the spot," the officer said. He said the area is now being monitored.
On Wednesday, five militants were killed, when troops foiled an infiltration bid in the Gurez sector on the Line of Control.
