Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will decide on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's demand for the removal of senior Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader M Kannappan from the Union council of ministers, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani said on Tuesday.

The Tamil Nadu government on Monday decided to impose the Prevention of Terrorism Act against Kannappan for his alleged support to the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

TN Chief Minister Jayalalithaa later wrote a letter to the prime minister demanding that Kannappan be sacked.

Advani dismissed charges that some states are misusing POTA to settle political scores. "We cannot level allegations against any particular state government. Cases are before the court...let the court decide," he told reporters accompanying him to Bastar.

He said MDMK leaders met him on Monday and discussed the issue.

Advani said while POTA was enacted by the Centre, its implementation is vested with state governments.
