TISS gangrape victim deposes before Mumbai court

The 23-year-old US national and student of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) on Wednesday deposed against the six boys accused of gang raping her in April last year.

The victim, who had flown back to the US soon after the incident, appeared before a special fast track court and deposed against the six arrested accused.

The six accused -- Vinamra Soni, Harshvardhan Yadav, Jashkaran Bhullar, Anish Borkataki, Dev Colabawala and Kundanraj Borgohain -- are facing trial under section 376 (g)
of IPC.

The case dates back to April 2009 when the accused first met the victim at a pub near TISS in suburban Deonar and then took her to Borgohain's flat in suburban Andheri where they allegedly raped her.

The victim in her deposition recounted the incident.

The court will continue recording the victim's deposition on Thursday.
