Three unidentified militants were killed in a fierce gunfight in the hilly Mahore area of Reasi district in Jammu region on Monday.
Troops of the 58 Rashtriya Rifles surrounded a forest area near Mahore early on Monday after receiving specific information about the presence of a group of militants in it.
"The militants opened fire at the security forces which was returned, leading to a fierce encounter, during which three unidentified militants were killed," Anand Jain, district police chief of Reasi, told rediff.com.
He said, "The operation is over. Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the encounter site".
