Three persons including a child were injured when a powerful bomb exploded at a sports stadium complex in Imphal on Saturday, official sources said.
The bomb was fitted in a car at Khuman Lampak stadium complex near Imphal and went off at around 9.45 am injuring three persons including a 10-year old child, the sources said.
The car was completely damaged in the explosion while the injured were passers-by, who were taking a stroll in the stadium complex, they said.
The explosion took place near the office of the Autonomous District Council, a hill-based panchayat like office, for which the election to its members was objected to some hill-based organisations some months ago.
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion, the sources said. Some hill-based organisations had opposed the election to the members of the ADC some months ago saying that hill areas should be placed under the provisions of the sixth schedule of constitution of India which was opposed by the government of Manipur saying ADC gave enough powers to its members.
