33 kin of Muzaffarnagar riot victims' given govt jobs

Thirty-three family members of victims of recent riots in the district were given government jobs by the district authorities in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday.

Implementing the state government's order, the authorities have provided government jobs to 33 people who were among the family members of the riot victims, District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said.

He said it also includes the family members of the three deceased in violence hit Kawal-- Shahnaaz Kureshi, Gaurav and Sachin. The communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar which began on August 27 had claimed 62 lives and displaced over 40,000 people.

District authorities have also decided to facilitate riot victims with duplicate voter photo identity cards during the drive for preparing the final voter list . Kaushal Raj Sharma who is also the district election officer said that the riot victims who lost their photo identity card or their card damaged may get a duplicate card.

He has also appealed the victims to apply for the new card to their nearest places.

Meanwhile, Mukesh Chandra Mishra will be the new circle officer of Jansath replacing J R Joshi, who has been shifted to Lucknow as vigilance officer. It is learnt that violence hit Kawal falls under the Jansath circle in the district.

on Saturday night, the UP government has posted Harinarayan Singh as new senior superintendent of police in Muzaffarnagar replacing Pravin Kumar while Kumar has been posted as commandant 41st battalion PAC, Ghaziabad.

Singh was earlier posted as SSP Kannauj.
