Lauding Mumbai residents for expressing their support for actor Shah Rukh Khan by snubbing the threat from Shiv Sena against his film My name is Khan, Union minister Sachin Pilot on Monday said the Thackerays have made only a laughing stock of themselves by raising such issues.
"The whole of Mumbai has come out and has proved that the Shiv Sena was wrong. The people have proved that we cannot tolerate such things. The Thackerays, by raising this issue, have made only a laughing stock of themselves," said Pilot.
When asked about the silence on the part of political parties when Shiv Sena called Shah Rukh Khan a 'traitor', Pilot pointed out that the government has dealt severely with those who indulged in violence and many Sena workers had been arrested.
"People are arrested and dealt severely with when any kind of violence takes place," he said.
Shah Rukh Khan had recently come under serious criticism from the Shiv Sena after the former commented on the inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL 3.
