The investigating agency has filed 34 cases and it believes that over 70 public servants were assisting Telgi and his associates.
The raids took place in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Vishakhapatanam, Chandigarh, Ranchi and Patna.
"We are interrogating Telgi in eleven cases of fake stamp papers and during the searches we found documents which showed that Telgi had a number of petrol stations in Maharashtra. Some of them are located in Navi Mumbai, Jalgaon [and in Mumbai at] Nariman Point and Linking Road," Mishra said.
Thirty-one oil tankers in Mumbai and five tankers in Chennai have been seized for sampling, he said.
Asked if any politicians in Maharashtra or any other state were involved in the racket, Mishra replied in the negative.
