The Congress on Friday hit out at Anna Hazare and his team accusing them of turning dharnas into a 'joke' as their indefinite fast against corruption entered its third day with yoga guru Ramdev today joining them.
"In a democracy people have a right to sit on dharna or hold agitation. Team Anna has reduced this right of the people into a joke. Baba Ramadev and Team Anna have played with this right of the common man.
"It seems he (Anna) and his team want to put pressure on the government. Nobody has the right to build unnecessary pressure on the government. People of the country have now understood their motives," party spokesperson Rashid Alvi told reporters in New Delhi.
The party's reaction came as Team Anna's indefinite fast on the third day of the agitation has so far failed to evoke popular support.
Ramdev, who along with 2,000 supporters marched from Ramlila Maidan to Jantar Mantar, the venue of Team Anna's fast, joined Anna Hazare and his fasting colleagues -- Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.
Team Anna's fast, which entered the third day on Friday, has been witnessing very low-turnout. However, after Ramdev's appearance, about 3,000 people collected at the venue.
