January 04, 2015 14:52 IST

Actor Salman Khan’s home became a protest site on Sunday morning when several Tamils collected outside the star’s home in Bandra, Mumbai and chanted slogans against him.

The protesters were livid with Salman for extending his support to Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse and for campaigning for the president.

Khan had recently visited Sri Lanka and had along with actress Jacqueline Feranandez campaigned for Mahinda Rajapaksa ahead of the presidential poll. Parties such as Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had severely criticised this move, saying it was not just the issue of Tamils in that country, but also that of the Indian fishermen.

The protesters said that they will continue to hold agitations until the superstar apologises for campaigning in support of Rajapakasa.

Police soon arrived at the scene and took away around 15-20 protesters and have increased security outside the star’s home.
