Putting an end to speculations on Saturday, Justice Hegde told rediff.com, “It is one of the most ridiculous rumours I have ever heard. On the one hand, I have been accused of being the one responsible for B S Yeddyurappa stepping down as chief minister because of my mining report. Now Yeddyurappa has rejoined the BJP and immediately the news floats that I too would be joining the same party. Does this not sound funny to you?”
“I cannot speak for (former top cop) Kiran Bedi, but I can say with 101 per cent conviction that I will stay away from politics. I was part of the Anna movement and I quit only because some persons were going political.”
“I will never join a political outfit. Instead, I would like to watch the politics that is taking place. I do not keep in touch with politicians. The only time I see a politician is at the airport and they always look away. I have a mutual relationship of hate with them.”
