A section of Andhra Pradesh government employees, who temporarily suspended their over two month-long strike against division of the state, returned to work on Friday.

Government offices in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions reopened on Friday and the employees said they would attend to public grievanes quickly. A large number of people queued up at the offices to get their work done.

Normal life had been thrown out of gear in Seemandhra ever since the pro-united Andhra employees of various departments started their strike on August 13.

The Andhra Pradesh Non-Government Officers Association temporarily suspended their agitation from midnight on Thursday following an assurance from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on certain rules governing their service among other issues.

The employees of power utilities and public transport, whose strike had crippled normal life, ended their stir last week.

Schools and colleges have also reopened in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.
