One paramilitary Border Security Force trooper was killed and two others wounded in a militant ambush in summer capital Srinagar on Thursday morning.
A senior police officer said that the trooper, identified as Krishen Kalita who hailed from Assam, succumbed to the critical bullet injury in the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
“The injured troopers were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The condition of one of them is critical,” the officer said.
Personnel of the army, BSF and the police rushed to the spot. The area is being searched.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
The militant attack comes just a week after the fidayeen attack in Bemina locality that left five Central Reserve Police Force troopers dead and ten others wounded.
The state police recently claimed that the case has been solved with the arrest of three people, including a Pakistani militant.
