Parts of Faizabad city on Tuesday witnessed sporadic protests after police arrested eight persons, including a local leader, in connection with the recent communal clashes.
The protests erupted after police allegedly entered a place of worship to arrest some persons in densely populated Tathraiya area.
District Magistrate Deepak Agrawal said that he has ordered a magisterial probe into the matter and its report will be submitted to him within a week.
During the raids, eight persons were arrested, but after interrogation four of them were released, police said. Following the arrest, locals of the area raised slogans and downed shutters of their shops.
"If anyone is found guilty action will be taken against him," Agrawal said.
Four persons have been booked and sent to jail, they said. Two persons were killed in clashes in the city during idol immersion on the occasion of Vijay Dashmi on October 24.Curfew relaxed in violence-hit Faizabad
