A supporter of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham chief J Jayalalithaa on Monday crucified himself to demand the leader’s return as Tamil Nadu chief minister.
Shihan Hussaini, a well known Karate expert in the city had a strange way of urging Jayalalithaa to come back to power.
He nailed himself to a cross and remained on it for 6.7 minutes. The duration of the act was designed to mark the former CM’s upcoming 67th birthday on Tuesday.
Jayalalithaa quit her office last year after she was arrested and jailed in a corruption case. She was replaced by loyalist O Paneerselvam.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Monday criticized Hussaini. DMK spokesman TKS Elangovan termed the act of crucifixion by Hussaini as ‘sycophancy’ and called for his arrest.
“This is sycophancy, this fellow Shihan Hussaini always tries to somehow please Jayalalithaa so that he is benefited. This cannot be tolerated in the country; this is highly foolish. No sane man will do this, it is highly insane. The police should have arrested him for such a show,” Elangovan said.
