Author Shobha De's tweet ridiculing a Mumbai policeman seems to have backfired with the social media and even the Mumbai Police trolling her.
De, after casting her vote on Tuesday in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls, posted a picture of an extremely obese police personnel, and wrote: "Heavy police bandobast in Mumbai today."
Three hours later, the Mumbai Police, through their official Twitter handle @MumbaiPolice, responded to the tweet saying, "We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally misplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you."
The Mumbai Police response elicited nearly a 1000 responses -- most of them lauding the force for "giving it back" to De -- and was shared by over 8,000 netizens.
The Mumbai Police went on to 'pin' the tweet to their account.
