A senior police officer said that terrorists fired at a passing private vehicle in which the SHO was travelling along with his armed guard. "SHO Nazir Ahmad's hand was hurt while his bodyguard Mohammad Iqbal sustained a bullet injury on his back. Both were immediately rushed to hospital for treatment," the officer said.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the militants. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
