Adding to the BJP's fears, former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat met senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Friday.

Singh, a Congress general secretary, called on Shekhawat at his residence in New Delhi. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh also called upon Shekhawat after Singh's visit. "It was a courtesy meet," sources in Shekhawat's residence told PTI.

The former Vice-President, had caused a flutter in the BJP by announcing that he may contest the next Lok Sabha polls. He also opened a front against former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje alleging that a 22,000-crore

rupee scam took place during her regime, a charge which the Congress used in its poll campaign.

Shekhawat's announcement of returning to active politics was also construed as a possible threat to L K Advani's candidature as  the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance.

The list of visitors at Shekhawat's residence, who has announced a countrywide campaign against corruption also included Govindacharya, a former organisation secretary of the BJP.
