Jammu and Kashmir's Democratic Freedom Party chief Shabhir Shah and his associates will not be travelling to Muzaffarabad on June 2.

Shah and his associates have failed to obtain travel documents from the authorities.

Talking to rediff.com in Srinagar on Wednesday night, Shah said that his party men went to collect the entry permits from the office of the regional passport officer, but after waiting for several hours they were not provided the required documents.

"They returned empty handed and without the proper documents we cannot undertake Thursday's journey. As such, the party, after a late evening meet, decided not to go to Muzaffarabad on Thursday," Shah said.

Earlier during the day, the DFP chief had told media persons that he had mentioned his nationality as 'Kashmiri' instead of 'Indian' in the relevant column of the entry permit form.

Shah had hoped that in view of the prevailing confidence building measures between the two countries he would be allowed to undertake the journey on Thursday.
