Security forces on Friday gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in Khrew village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
The gunfight started Friday morning after police and counter insurgency Rashtriya Rifles (RR) surrounded a house in Khrew village, nearly 20 km from Srinagar, acting on specific information.
The terrorists opened fire on security forces when the latter challenged them to surrender. Two terrorists were killed in the subsequent gunfight.
The Khrew encounter came just a day after the 22-hour-long standoff ended in Srinagar's Lal Chowk area. Security forces killed two terrorists holed up inside a hotel.
Meanwhile, Srinagar-based journalists working for local, national and international newspapers and agencies staged a peaceful protest in Srinagar against the alleged shooting at and injuring of a local photo-journalist working for a leading local daily.
