Security has been beefed up in Mirati village of Birbhum district in view of President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to his ancestral house during the Durga puja rituals, official sources said on Friday.

Security has been beefed up and the entire road from Kirnahar to Mirati is being guarded by security personnel, the sources said.

The President will reach N S C Bose International Airport at Kolkata from New Delhi by an IAF plane at around 2.20 pm on Saturday, they said.

From Kolkata, he would take a helicopter to reach Kirnahar and from there he would go to his ancestral house in Mirati village, sources added.

President Pranab Mukherjee will worship his family deity, Devi Durga, at his ancestral house in West Bengal's Birbhum district.

Barring once or twice, Mukherjee in his five decades of political career has arrived in Miriti every year to offer puja to his family deity.

Despite being a Union Minister previously, Mukherjee always made a point to spent four days of the pujas in his ancestral house.
