Markets remained open across the valley -- despite being a Sunday.
The city centre, Lal Chowk was full of people leading to traffic jams. Other towns also witnessed huge rush of people seen purchasing essential items.
The people in the capital city, especially the downtown areas, have been facing severe shortages of essential items because of the indefinite curfew clamped early last week.
Since the hanging of Parliament attack convict, Afzal Guru, the educational institutions have remained mostly shut on account of the curfews and shutdowns in Kashmir after the long winter holidays that ended on March 10.
Many private schools kept their institutions open on Sunday to make up for the lost time.
The separatists on Sunday issued yet another protest calling for week long protests and a shutdown on Wednesday to press their demand for return of the mortal remains of Guru.
