A National Democratic Alliance delegation on Saturday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad be sacked from the cabinet in the wake of the alleged 'land-for-jobs' scam.

The delegation also demanded an inquiry into the scam, which was exposed by a TV channel.

The delegation, comprising BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, JD-U president Sharad Yadav, MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh and spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari, said it also submitted evidence relating to the scam to the prime minister.

The leaders claimed that the documents prove the involvement of Lalu, Union Ministers Premchand Gupta, Kanti Singh and Raghunath Jha in the scam.

"First we had the cash-for-vote scam and now land-for-job. These incidents signify height of corruption," Naqvi told media persons after the meeting.

He said the prime minister should not maintain silence on the issue.

"This sends a wrong message that he is also hand-in-glove," he said.

The NDA leaders claimed to have documentary evidence showing people who got jobs in Indian Railways had transferred their lands to close family members of Lalu. They accused the Railway Minister of giving jobs also to those who had deposed in his favour earlier in the fodder scam.
