Peeved with the Bharatiya Janata Party for 'giving up' the Hindutva ideology, a section of the Sangh Parivar has begun efforts to revive the Jana Sangh. RSS leader Prafull Goradia, who recently quit BJP, is at the forefront of efforts to revive the organisation.
A programme has been scheduled in New Delhi next week to formally declare the setting up of the party. The programme will be held on October 21, the 54th foundation day of the Jana Sangh.
"The aim of reviving Jana Sangh is to assert the Hindutva ideology," Goradia said. "Jana Sangh is the only hope for the collective voice of tolerant Hindus, especially at a time when the Al Qaeda, the Taliban and the Jehadis are on the offensive," he said.
Goradia said the party, to be headed by Balraj Madhok, will contest next year's assembly elections in Bihar, Jharkhand and Haryana.
He attacked the BJP for giving up the Hindutva ideology, particularly its core agenda of Ayodhya, Uniform Civil Code and abolishing Article 370.
Meanwhile, a senior VHP leader denied Goradia's claim that he had the backing of the RSS and the VHP and that they would attend the October 21 function.
"We have nothing to do with it," the VHP leader said.
