The constitutional court of Portugal has cleared the extradition of underworld gangster Abu Salem to India.

The decision was taken on July 18 by the concerned court. Salem had challenged the deportation order passed by the Supreme Court of Portugal.

Speaking to rediff.com, Central Bureau of Investigation spokesperson G Mohanty confirmed the order of extradition.

He, however, made it clear that Salem's deportation to India would not come immediately as a case of the Madhya Pradesh police is pending before the high court for clearance.
