Ten illegal immigrants from India and Pakistan and two suspected agents of an inter-continental human trafficking ring have been arrested in South Africa, police said Wednesday.

The immigrants were arrested in Johannesburg and Durban along with a couple believed to be agents of a trafficking syndicate operating in Africa, Asia and Europe, police spokesperson for the Johannesburg region, Tumi Golding, said.
"The arrest of the ten people bring to 51, the number of people arrested by police in a joint South African and British police investigation into human trafficking", he said.

Most of the people being trafficked are from Asia and Africa. South Africa was being used as a conduit, Golding said adding that foreign currency, fake citizenship documents and passports were also recovered.
