The Tamil Nadu unit of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh held a public meeting in Triplicane, Chennai on Wednesday to protest against the 'Congress' attempts to link the right-wing organisation to terrorist activities'.

BJP state unit president Pon Radhakrishnan highlighted the need for the nationwide dharna by the RSS. "The Centre has some reason or the other to pin it (charges of saffron terrorism) on us. The United Progressive Alliance has been plotting this for a while," he said.

"What is the Congress' objective? It is how to become rich by becoming politicians," he added.

Claiming that the Congress was spreading baseless allegations to defame the RSS, Radhakrishnan said, "A false and baseless campaign was initiated by the Congress alleging that central executive member of the RSS, Indresh Kumar, was involved in terror related activities."

"If we wanted to blast various parts of the country, we could have kept bombs in so many places. Just because we are vociferous about the existing problems [in the system] that does not make us terrorists," asserted Radhakrishnan.

Countering the Congress' allegations against the RSS, he questioned, "Do you (Congress) know what a communal organisation is?"

"We can stand here for hours accusing the Congress of various things but we don't have the time to do so. The RSS is deeply insulted by the Centre's allegations. We are here today to mark our protest," concluded an emphatic Radhakrishnan.
