The Rashtrapati Bhavan is looking for fresh graduates from various streams to take up the position of interns.
As per a new plan drawn up by President Pranab Mukherjee and implemented by his Secretariat, these graduates can now undergo a three-month internship at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Even undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
The interns will be trained in the press department of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. They will receive a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month and a certificate on completion of the internship.
The interns will get first-hand experience on the functioning of various departments of the Rashtrapati Bhawan and the role of its press department.
The last date for applying is December 26. The application form can be downloaded from presidentofindia.nic.in or interested candidates can send an email to pds@nic.in to get it.
In related news, President Mukherjee has decided to deploy 'scholar guides' to take visitors on guided tours of Rashtrapati Bhavan every Friday, Saturday and Sunday to educate them about the historical, archaeological and social significance of the sprawling structure.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan will be open to public from January 1 for three week days from 9 am to 6 pm. Its secretariat has announced a 'Friends of Rashtrapati Bhawan' programme to select and engage the scholar guides for the purpose, with a remuneration of Rs 900 per day of engagement.
According to an announcement by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, applicants will have to send in their applications by December 15. Applicants will have to be under 25 years of age, hold a graduate degree and have a deep understanding of Indian history, art and culture.
They are required to be proficient and conversant in either Hindi or English. Candidates short-listed after a selection process will have to undergo an orientation programme.
